Chapter One: Introduction

1.1 Background of the Study
Rural development remains a cornerstone of Nigeria's economic and social progress. Azare LGA in Bauchi State, like many rural areas, faces challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, poverty, and limited access to education and healthcare. Public Relations (PR) plays a vital role in raising awareness and mobilizing support for rural development initiatives. Through effective communication strategies, PR bridges the gap between government programs and the rural populace, fostering trust and participation.

PR efforts, including town hall meetings, community radio programs, and grassroots campaigns, have been shown to enhance public awareness and engagement in development projects (Ahmed et al., 2023). This study examines the impact of PR on rural development awareness campaigns in Azare LGA.
